Would you like to be on Cricket’s white side or the bright side?

Us Indians have a unique connection with cricket and an unflinching passion for the gentleman’s game. Unlike most countries, our relationship with this sport begins on the streets – Galli Cricket. Almost every child in the country has grown up playing Bat-Ball. It excites us the most and upsets us the most; we care for the team like they are one of our own!

Today, in the year 2020, can you fathom a summer without the Indian Premier League? With the paralysis of the pandemic, just the thought of not having a team to cheer for broke most of our hearts. Luckily for us, UAE was generous enough to take care of our entertainment. And the beauty of it lay in the fact that right after IPL we had another great series lined up for us – India’s tour of Australia 2020.

Already many matches into the ODI and T20, the Indian team has the world by their eyeballs because of two things – their performance and the 1992 retro jersey which they chose to sport throughout the tour. To me, that colourful jersey screams nostalgia. In fact, the 1992 team’s wicket-keeper, Kiran More shared the picture of him wearing the 28-year-old jersey on Twitter. From white to the recent sky blue, our journey across the spectrum of the rainbow was brought alive by the striped retro jersey, which is as good as a symbol of positive change.

“Life is a messy yet beautiful canvas drenched in different colours of positives and negatives.”

It amazes me how the current Indian Cricket Team led by Virat Kohli and K L Rahul chose to take a pause, retrospect and sport the symbol of change in the times when change is the only constant that needs to be embraced. Without change, what are we? Nothing but a bud that refuses to bloom!

Much like these cricket legends, organisations across the country and the services that survived this painful yet enabling year, were the ones that created a moment of peace, looked back, measured their progress and changed or shape-shifted to fit the pressing needs of the time – they added colours to both, their work and their flags.

There’s a famous saying, “the only way to grow is to step out of your comfort zone”. This quote should be set in stone for 2020. Each one of us stands out of our comfort zone, we’ve been pushed to achieve greater heights while maintaining our mental sanity sitting in a room for more than 8 months. Who could’ve imagined that? It’s as shocking as Cricket trading their pristine whites for the depth of blue. For me, today’s throwback to the 1992 World Cup blue opened the doors to grandeur.

I think sometimes the human race needs a shock, a huge wave of disabling circumstances to get off the chair they’ve been lazing on for years! It never occurred to us but our business named jersey has been awaiting these colours for the longest time. The businesses that are so dear to us, are our brainchildren, have been waiting to be explored. Now is the time we do that. Today is the time for us to shed our inhibitions and add that splash of colour in the name of creativity and open-mindedness to our business. Look at the world today, it came to a standstill, it was crippled for a while but has it stopped? No! We are on our journeys to come out stronger, smarter and better!

Quite like the 1992 retro jersey, this year is the beginning of a legacy which will be celebrated by the coming generations. So, I have embarked upon my journey to greater things and countless opportunities. The question is, will I see you on the white side or the bright side?
